    1. Long story short: it's a lot like Photoshop.

You may have 10,000 brushes but there's really a core 5 or so that you'll be doing 90% of your work with. 'Z Intensity' is a slider at the top that's the 3D equivalent of a Fill/Opacity percentage so just slide it down if your brush is too strong. The program is geared towards using a stylus, so your primary hotkeys are shift (smooth brush, kind of like an eraser), ctrl (masking brush), and alt (camera mover, use it in similar manner as spacebar in PS).

The hardest part really is starting the program: its really sensitive about plopping down a model and having the user press the edit button immediately or you get this weird repeat placement thing going. The other thing that you'll just have to intuitively learn is when to step down in levels to get what you want. Level 1 is base polygon, and each level above exponentially subdivides the base - sometimes you get this ugly mark that can't be smoothed out until you go down a level or 2 and edit from there.

It cannot operate correctly without the user having some sort of tablet so its very intuitive for people coming from 2D digital work. The program is deeper than this, but for all that info, check out the Scott Spencer books, best art books for any graphical program ever, all the foundation techniques while still actually teaching how to do art, especially anatomy.

    2. Oh darn, guess it is pretty complicated and deep, maybe one day I'll play around with it.

    3. Its really not as ugly of a leap as I've made it to be, its a lot like sketching for most of the process. Aside from the occasional push and pull, you're doing the same stroking movements as with Sai or a pencil to build and define the model.
